Book One, Chapter 4. Who’s That Girl? ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes: A/N: The title comes from a Eurythmics tune. One lifetime, I’d love to have a go with Annie Lenox’ voice. The woman can sing. The quote arises from controversy surrounding the publication of James Joyce’s masterpiece Ulysses and how it would endanger the mind of young girls. If only they knew. *insert laughter*]

7. Shadows taller than our souls. ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes: [A/N: This is the part where things start to get a bit heavy. One of my personal pet peeves with the show was the flip-flopping by the writers between the terms “witch” and “wiccan”. I’m going to come out and say, yes, I am a practicing witch, have been for more than 30 years, and while I liked how things went as far as a positive image of “wiccan” practitioners, there is a distinction between being a witch and being wiccan. It’s a debate I often have with those I mentor, and its far too complicated to get into in these notes. Suffice to say, in the interest of brevity, a witch will do anything she has to, while a wiccan will shy away from actual blood and/or dark magick. That being said, watch out for the dark stuff contained herein. None of the rituals herein should be used by anyone. You have been warned. Chapter title comes from a Led Zeppelin tune, *smirks* you figure out which one. Quotes are as attributed, and the standard disclaimers apply, though I still think I have better lawyers than some.]

9. Shall raise such artificial sprites. ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes: [A/N: Time is a relative thing. When you are planning or awaiting something great and wonderful, it seems to take years. When bad times are afoot, time can be endless. And good wonderful moments are gone in a blink. Its going to progress like that now. Everything will move too fast and then stop. And no, I haven’t forgotten about the other scoobies, they’ve just not been the focus of the storyline so far. The title is from the Scottish Play (Hecate to the 3 sisters, Act 1, sc 5; the quotes as attributed. Disclaimers, as always, still in place.]

10. That proves the hero born in better days. ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes:
[A/N: The title comes from the Iliad (book xxii, line 929), translated by Alexander Pope and the quotes are as attributed. I know I had mentioned previously that I was going to put in actual spells (or at least I implied so), however, upon deeper reflection, I realized it might be a little foolish on my part. Chalk it up to author’s prerogative. Standard disclaimers still apply, coz nothing’s changed about ownership.]
I have to mention all the lovely reviews you guys have given me. Thanks so much for your words. They really mean a lot to me.

12. Pale despair and cold tranquility. ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes: A/N: A repeat of the title source, Alastor, or, the Spirit of Solitude (l 725) by Percy Bysshe Shelley and the other quotes belong to those that first uttered them. At this point, I have to take a moment to thank my girls – who have both given me inspiration to go on. (They know who they are). Standard disclaimers still apply]

13. Dearer than the natural bond of sisters. ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes: [A/N: Title belongs to the Bard of Avon, in “As You Like It, act 1, sc. 2, the quotes, as always, as attributed. This started out as a, well, I got this idea after I bought season 5, and watched the interaction between Dawn and Spike. It kind of took a few twists and turns, but basically, this is still the original idea I first had so many months ago. This is also my first real foray into fanfiction, but far from my first fiction ever written. In point of fact, its more like just the latest in a long line of storytelling. Hopefully someone out there will enjoy this. Disclaimers in full force and effect.]

15. Resurrection, imperfect. ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes: [A/N: The title is from a poem by John Donne (1573 - 1631), English poet and sometime mystic. If you’ve never read his works, its always an interesting read. The quotes are as attributed, and standard disclaimers in full force and effect. Oh, just in case anyone’s wondering, this is unbeta’d though I suppose I could get it beta’d if I had the nerve to send it off to someone for a critique. Oh well. I’m just doing this for the sake of telling a story. With any luck it will at least be readable.]

17. A Sort of Homecoming ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes:
[A/N: This has been an interesting ride so far. I’m having a blast writing this. Onward and upward we go. Title is from that sort of famous Irish group, as is the quote. First time I saw them it was 1982 and they sucked, but there was something about them. Just kind of knew they were gonna be special. I’m really glad they’ve gotten a little bit better. Nice to see them eligible for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Slainte, one and all. Disclaimers haven’t changed, but I’m thinking of working on Joss now that he’s got some idle time.]

Author's Notes:
[A/N: I’m having so much fun writing this, you have no idea. The title comes from the bard, Romeo and Juliet, act 5, scene 3. Quotes are as attributed, disclaimers still apply (but gods I wish they didn’t – just for a little while – coz, I so would have fired a few of the writers).]

20. Hireath ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes: [A/N: The title is a Welsh word meaning homesick. But its not the kind of homesickness you get when you are away at summer camp or even when you’ve moved away from home. This is the kind of homesickness that is in your soul, when you yearn for a place that you’ve never been before, or that is so soul-deep that you can’t recover from being away from it. It’s the soul-deep yearning that most Celts carry for our homelands . . for the hills and valleys of the Highlands, for the sea of Ireland (and land so green it hurts your eyes) and for the wild coast and lands of Wales. The quotes are as attributed. Again, thank you so much for the lovely reviews.]

21. Crystalline knowledge of you ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes: [A/N: There were moments, during the show’s run, when I wanted to throw something at the screen because the writers had lost the plot. There were even more moments when I sat there in stunned disbelief and said to myself “I so could have done that better” (usually they were preceded by me throwing things at the screen). I never quite understood why the writers brought Buffy back and immediately had her fighting (um, hello?) nor did I understand how she could stand all the noise and stuff, she’d been dead, so everything about life would have been loud and harsh and just not good. Anyway, that’s why I’m trying to address the story in my own way. I’m enjoying it, I have no idea if anyone else is (except for the reviews, THANK YOU ALL!!) But I digress, and no one wants to hear me rant about the show and what happened when Joss let go the reins and gave over the day to day writing to Marti. *Focuses on the story* Right, so . . . title is from one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac tunes, but really is a Lindsay Buckingham number. It’s a gorgeous song and even prettier when its sung by both Lindsay and Stevie Nicks. Quotes as attributed, disclaimers still in full force and effect.]

22. Serenity is far away ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes: [A/N: One of the things I never understood about this show were the plot threads that went dangling, things mentioned that seemed to be incredibly important and then were just dropped. I suppose that’s what happens when you have a stable of alternating writers with such differing views of the characters. Made for interesting moments, but too much of that and you have a mess (or a field day for the fanfiction writers, so I suppose we shouldn’t complain too much). But when the gaps become too much, its just sloppy. And frankly, I don’t know about the rest of you, but I could always tell when Joss stepped in and cleaned up someone else’s script. *Sighs* I’d love to work for Joss though, just for a little bit. Title and quotes as attributed, and disclaimers still in full force and effect.]

23. A harlot’s prerogative ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes:
[A/N: Something I never understood or agreed with was the correlation between Willow’s magic problems with addiction. Truth is, Willow’s issues weren’t about being addicted, it was more about a witch realizing her powers, and basically expanding them without wanting to admit or realize that there are consequences. Another thing was that Willow lacked a moral center – she had a real problem with what she believes is “best” counterbalanced against what others do. Don’t believe me? Go back and watch some more of those episodes when Willow does what Willow wants, without worrying about whether or not she’s about to hurt someone. Trust me, its not pretty. Titles and quotes as attributed, disclaimers in full force and effect.]

Chapter 24. The fuel of evil is raining from the sky. ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes:
[A/N: Title is from The Clash, arguably the best punk band that ever existed, the song is “The Sound of Sinners”. I will never forget the first time I saw them live, blew me and everyone else away. Disclaimers in full force and effect, though I really wish Joss would sign over his rights long enough for me to write a screenplay, wherein Angel loses the girl for once and always]

25. Live to fight another day. ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes:
[A/N: Since one of my pet peeves about the show was about not having a qualified “mystic” on hand, I will be using my knowledge about that stuff – and giving the two wiccans a bit more power. I also hated what the writers did to Tara, making her a weak character, when her potential was so much more. And Giles too, because anyone that can conjure up a demon as a youth has a bit more magic in them than they show indicated. Anyway, if there are questions about some of the mythical beasts, I”ll be happy to answer them. Title is from Oliver Goldsmith, but I swear its ageless and timeless and quotes as attributed, disclaimers in full force and effect.]

26. Red rain is falling down all over me. ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes:
A/N: The great thing about writing is that, if you are good at it, sometimes the story just takes over and writes itself. Seems to be what’s happening here. Oh well, if you don’t like it, blame my muses, James Marsters and the fairytale Beauty and the Beast (oh c’mon, don’t tell me you don’t recognize the correlations). Title is from Peter Gabriel’s song of the same name and the quotes as attributed. Ah, if you ever get to Wales, run, don’t walk to Tintern Abbey. Disclaimers unfortunately still in full force and effect.]

[A/N: If you look for love poetry, don’t shy away from Sappho, just because of the lesbian themes – when its translated “correctly” its sublime. The title comes from a translation done by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, and the entire poem is the quote. Disclaimers still in full force and effect.]

Author's Notes:
Just a note to everyone who has reviewed thus far. You are all angels thank you so much for your kind words and your support. I don't know if I would have gotten this far without your support. Nia
[A/N: Title is from my other permanent muse, the Bard of Avon (please don’t say you have no idea who I mean), from the Taming of the Shrew, act 5, sc 2 (a personal favorite, coz I am one). I absolutely hated the way some of the writers treated Spike and you won’t find any wishy-washy stuff in this fic – sorry but the angst will come from elsewhere, not between Buffy and Spike, at least not much of it anyway. Quotes as attributed, and the disclaimers are still in effect]

30. Walk through the Fire ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes:
[A/N: I do not suffer fools, gladly or otherwise, and therefore, I don’t like Xander. You won’t find any sympathy or any slack because he’s one of the scoobies. This might be a bit harsh, but its done for a purpose, bear with me. In fact don’t be surprised if there’s a smack down coming for him. (So I suppose that’s a bit of a spoiler). If you want to flame me for this, that's your prerogative, just be prepared for my response. Okay, the title is from the Peter Gabriel song of the same name, from the soundtrack to “Against All Odds” an okay film about star-crossed lovers. Quotes as attributed, disclaimers unfortunately, still working.]

32. Like a dream in the night. ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes:
This is a bit short, but I broke it where I did because I had to, space wise. Thank you all so much for your reviews. I cannot express how much they mean to me. Addie, my girls, and the ladies of Bloodshedverse, thank you all. Rana, keep those words coming, I need them. And if I didn't mention you by name, that doesn't mean I'm not paying attention. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
[A/N: If you haven’t noticed by now, I’m a junkie for a good quote, no matter where it comes from. The title is from a Bryan Ferry song (don’t know who he is, google him. Then listen to his music, I swear its worth it), entitled More than this. It’s brilliant, so is he. Quotes are all song lyrics this time around. (I couldn’t resist). Disclaimers still in full force and effect.]

Author's Notes:
[A/N: The Gaelic in this chapter is my translation, so the errors are mine, since its been a while since I spoke or wrote any Gaelic, so forgive me in advance for the errors (although some of them are deliberate). The title comes from another song, this one from Depeche Mode, one of the best ever dance/club/new wave bands to ever record. Its from Strangelove (oh the irony is great) from the album Music for the Masses, released in 1987. Quotes are also from songs, coz I’m a sucker for a decent love song from strange places.]

34. Shadow on the sun ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes: [A/N: Title is a paraphrase of the Bard’s words, (his quote is ‘unless to spy my shadow in the sun’ from King Richard III, act 1, sc.1; while Audioslave’s is the actual song title, Shadow on the Sun, which is an awesome tune but you really really truly need to listen to the words. Beautiful sentiment, despite the heavy “metal” music. Anyway, the quotes are as attributed, and the disclaimers are still in full force and effect, but I’m thinking up ways to get to Joss, so if anyone has an idea, let me know.]

Author's Notes:
appologize for this one being a bit short, but certain real life issues got in the way, and I had to slow down a bit. Thanks to my girls, and Addie (for the looong conversations and plot bunnies) and also, thanks to everyone else who's taken time out to review. Rana, Shippy, Blondie bear and everyone else that has left a kind word for me. Thank you so very much. Nia
[A/N: the title is an over-used one, I realize that, but it seems to fit, and besides, I can’t seem to come up with something more apt. The original source is the Bible, from the first epistle of Paul to the Corinthians, 13, but its such an odd juxtaposition within the context of this letter, that I suppose it made sense to someone. Anyway, here it is. The quotes are as attributed, and the disclaimers are still in effect, which means I own nothing. But boy if I did . . . ]

Author's Notes: [A/N: I’m finally getting to the heart of this story, unfortunately up until now its basically just been getting some necessary emotional stuff out of the way, hopefully, from here on out, there will be more action and less . . . reflection. Title is from Alan Beck, from his “What is a Girl?” and it just kind of sums up how I think Spike would think about his girls . . . anyway... the quotes are as attributed, and the disclaimers still prove I own nothing.]

Author's Notes:
I almost didn't post this tonight. I'm having a week from hell and I'm just not in the best of moods and I'm also in a fair amount of pain.. so if everything isn't the way its supposed to be I apologize in advance. Thank the little spider again, because I wasn't going to post.
[A/N: Damn, okay, so I thought I was going to start on the “action” part of this, and it was pointed out that I haven’t really been slouching on that, and that I also shouldn’t worry about how the story is unfolding to just tell it and let it be. So I’m going to do just that. Tell the story and let it flow. I hope everyone is still enjoying this. Title is a Chinese proverb (ok so I couldn’t resist the alliteration). Author's Notes: [A/N: I haven’t said it before, but I’ll say it now. I like Wesley. I liked Wesley when he showed up in Sunnydale the first time (in a geeky kind of way, I’m a sucker for an English accent and brains). But when he showed up in Los Angeles . . . Um yeah, there was the eye candy Angel had been missing. *grins* (Our girl Aly is very lucky). And I always thought that, the three Englishmen all had more in common than first met the eye. Aside from the obviously striking good looks and wonderful accents (ironic that only one of them is a real Englishman!!). The title comes from one of the quotes, which are, as always, as attributed. Disclaimers in effect.]

42. The Poison Tree ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes:
[A/N: I always thought that neither Giles nor Tara went far enough with trying to get their points across to Willow – but I also think they missed part of the point also. You know, the point that Willow’s problems had nothing to do with magic and everything to do with power and control. On that note, things might get a bit rocky here and there for the redheaded one. The title is the title of one of my favorite poems, by William Blake. The quotes are as attributed and the disclaimers are in full force and effect.]

Author's Notes:
[A/N: I’m having so much fun writing this, I almost don’t want to stop, but I know that not everyone feels that way. *laughs at my girls*. The title is . . . well, there are two sources for this title. The first one is Rudyard Kipling’s famous poem of the same name (one of my very favorites) and the second source is a quote from the Bard – in As You Like It, act 5, sc. 4., which reads “Your ‘if’ is the only peacemaker; much virtue in ‘if’.” Such a small tiny little word – and yet it wields so much power. If not for this . . . . Quotes are as attributed. Disclaimers still in full force and effect.]

Chapter 44. Privacy is raked ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes:
[A/N: The chapter title comes from a line in the song “Nutshell” by Alice in Chains (listen to the unplugged version), probably one of the best bands to emerge in the early 1990's – the pain and the angst coupled with real good rock and roll make for good music. Layne Staley, the lead singer, accidently committed suicide little over 2 years ago, and his demise was predicted many many times – because of his heroin addiction, but the media made much of it (well the music industry media did anyway). Vocally, he was truly gifted and could sing like a lark. May you rest in peace, peace you never found on this plane. Quotes as attributed, disclaimers still in effect. I own nothing.]

I have no idea who nominated me, but you have my undying thanks. Also, a huge thank you to every single one of you that's taken a moment to review. It means so much to me.
[A/N: Platitudes can go on forever, and quotes can only capture a moment, but sometimes they are all we have to describe that moment. Title comes from the Bard, from one of the most tragically romantic stories ever told, act 2, sc. 2 (My bounty is as boundless as the sea, my love as deep. The more I give to thee the more I have, for both are infinite) – and see if you can figure out which play I mean. And the poem Spike quotes? Its by Robert Louis Stevenson. Qoutes as attributed. Author's Notes: [A/N: Don’t you just love cliffhangers? *laughs* I’m sorry. I tried so hard to figure out how to keep Once More With Feeling a part of this story, but, unfortunately I just couldn’t do it. I was going to even write an additional song, in fact had some of it already written, but it just didn’t work. I hope you’ll all forgive me. Author's Notes: [A/N: For the purposes of this story, the events in season 2 of Angel were altered a bit, and Angel and Darla slept together both before and after she was re-vamped by Drusilla. I spent nearly two days trying to come up with something that fit for this chapter’s title and nothing has worked. I’m reusing one of the sources. Sue me. Go ahead, you’ll get absolutely nothing from me, because I have nothing. I just am not sure how to describe this, but its been great. You’ve no idea how much your kind words and acceptance of my little story mean to me. Without you, the readers, this wouldn’t be worth anything except the paper its printed on. The title comes from Genesis, from a B side (meaning it was never on an album) song called Evidence of Autumn. It’s a really sweet song about lost love, and well. Its just nice. Quotes as attributed. Author's Notes:
[A/N: Remember how I said I didn’t like Xander? Well, I don’t like Angel either. I have a lot of issues (if only you guys knew) with the casting of that part. He doesn’t look like an angel at all, unless you are talking one of the lesser ones; why the writers chose to make him Irish, I’ve no idea. The actor’s lame and piss-poor attempts at an Irish accent must have made the real Englishman and the real Irishman cringe. The attempts made me cringe. The title comes from a song by Depeche Mode, Enjoy the Silence, from the album Violator (damn freakin’ fine music). Quotes are as attributed, and the disclaimers are still in full force and effect. 51. The space between your heart and mine ~ Reviews (0)
Author's Notes:
[A/N: Emotionally draining moments can be more exhausting than physical violence. Words that have been held for years are sometimes the hardest to let escape. Releasing old hurts is very cathartic. I was always waiting for that moment with Buffy – and it never really came. Poor girl. I should probably explain my last notes. I actually liked Angel when he left Sunnydale and went to LA – I just didn’t like the pairing of Buffy and Angel (cause chemistry – they didn’t have it). Angel and Cordelia were a much better couple. The title is from a Dave Matthews song – although I’m not really sure the song’s lyrics really apply here, I just liked the title. The quotes are as attributed and the disclaimers are still in full force and effect.]

I'd like to thank everyone who's reviewed this story. Each and every one has meant alot to me. And don't worry, the sequel is already being written and I'm not taking off two weeks. I'll probably start posting part deux no later than Thursday.
[A/N: Here endth the beginning. To quote Winston Churchill, “now is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” I’ve always liked that quote, even before I really knew what it meant. After this, I’ll be taking about a week off, (perhaps, depends on a few things) then will start posting Origins: Revelations (or something like that – got a better title, send me an email). I’d like to take a moment here, to thank someone that I’ve never mentioned before – my son. He’s put up with a lot from me in the last couple of weeks, while I focused on this and he deserves the PS2 that he won not to long ago. So, to my own, my heart, I love you so much I could barf (and that’s a quote from his Valentine’s day card to me). Disclaimers are still in full force and effect. The title of this comes from the song by The Cult, (she sells) Sanctuary (great English underground band); and the quotes are as attributed. Slainte, one and all – Nia]
