This is the first part of a novel-length story. It is a romance, above all else, but it is also a drama and because of that, it will contain angst. It is also a rather involved character study. Bottom line: if you're looking for a simple, fluffy read, then this isn't it. If you're looking for a character-driven story with loads of plot and intense, realistic romance, then have a read. I hope you will enjoy it. :) Also, please note that this story was first started and posted before Joss revealed William's "official" surname to be Pratt. By that time, I was so accustomed to calling him William Hartley that I made the decision not to change it in this story. The story opens in season five, after Forever but before Intervention. Author's Notes: This is the second part of a novel-length story. It will deal exclusively with William. There will be no Buffy at all until Part Three, so please don't ask me to "tell what's happening in the future." It would disrupt the flow of the narrative. Above all else, this story is a romance, but all good romantic heroes have adversity to overcome. William has just been handed his. I hope you guys enjoy it. :)

Author's Notes: You'll notice that William doesn't need an invitation to enter the house in this chapter. This is because women weren't allowed to own property in the Victorian era, if they had a husband or male children. Upon his father's death, William inherited the property. Even though he is now dead, Anne would not have owned the house yet, anyway. For a woman, property did not exchange over until it was determined that there were no male heirs to inherit. So, technically, no one owns the house, at the moment. I just wanted to let you guys know this, so no one will think it's a plot hole. :)
