My gosh! I was so afraid this chapter would take us one step forward, three steps back, what with Spike being drunk off his ass. Not that a sober Spike isn't capable of putting his foot in his mouth, but a drunk Spike can definitely be much more vicious. The ending to the chapter, though? Absolutely amazing!!! The tenderness just had me melting. I love how you're able to create that roller coaster of emotions. Truly well done. :o)

these two last chapters are so poignant and powerful - very sad for both, but I think especially for Spike - knowing how he tried so desparetly to hold onto the image of Elizabeth all those years, knowing that he indeed was very much the same man and that inside of Spike, William is also still there. Hard Giles in this story, but I like that he is being tough - hope that his sense of duty and reality will not bring about so very bad consequences. I always like Giles but he could certainly be just as sturborn and lacking in perspective as Buffy or the other Scoobies - Very excited to have this new WIP for my Buffyverse FF reading pleasure - Well Done

I'm posting again, motivated just after returning from reading your LJ. In one of your entries you said the number of readers slackened because the story dwelled on William's vampiric past and transformation rather than the Spuffy goodness - well, don't be disheartened! I'm here to cheer you on. That part of the story was paramount to the character of present Spike, and how the shy-faced William managed to thrust Buffy/Elizabeth's influential love away to become Drusilla's lover and a murderer. I was interested, and finally satisfied with the character transformation you pressed him through. It wasn't some abrupt turning over a new leaf - you showed it for what it really was, and with that you gave it that touch of reality (as realistic as possible in Buffydom). I think the people who read these fanfictions purely for the sexual and romantic notions between Buffy and Spike, ignoring the potential of the plotline itself, are starved and excessively deluded people. They have no idea what they're missing out on! Having William turning into Spike and making it seem like he no longer cared for Elizabeth's memory -or at least, that it no longer played a role with him- then contrasting it with his reaction to Buffy's return was one of the best parts of the story and I was literally holding my breath. Sorry this is long, but to cut it shorter than my brain's encouraging me to: Don't let the decrease in readers spoil your fun. This fanfiction is perfect how it is, and one of the best, if not THE best, that I've ever laid eyes on. Thankyou so much for being a brilliant writer, and sharing your gift with us. (I'm waiting for an update .. )

I honestly can't remember if I already posted a review for this series (I just found this website, and I've started losing count of all the reading I've gotten into - with gusto, assuredly!) but regardless if I did, your writing's so great it deserves one here. I enjoyed this and previous chapters so thoroughly. I love the way you write, and how you incorporated the etiquette and behaviour into being in that time era - you even pulled off the feat of keeping EVERYONE in character, even Buffy! You made her react and feel like Buffy, but restricted to what was appropriate in that time. You're brilliant. I wouldn't be surprised if you've actually published real, best selling books outside spuffy fanfics :3
